DUE DATE FOR THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY IS FEB 14TH, EVERYTHING ELSE IS DUE ON THE 7TH!!!!
This week you will begin working on your business plan which is due in Week Nine. The executive summary is the first portion of your business plan. It outlines what all of the following sections will cover. It is essentially an outline of what the rest of your business plan will lay out. This is the week that you should start working on it.
This summary will be due in Week Six. At that time I can give you feedback three weeks before your business plan is due. I will review your executive summary and let you know if I see any places you might be missing details.
Your summary should be at least two paragraphs of detailed information about the business plan you are putting together. It should cover the type of business, the area the business will function, and why you think this is a valid business opportunity.
DO NOT submit your entire business plan when this assignment comes due – just the executive summary so I have an idea of what type of business you’re planning.
The criteria for this assignment are:
Create a new Word Document.
Use Times New Roman or Calibri fonts, 14 pt.
Follow Section II in your business plan template.
Put the following in the upper right-hand corner:
Your name.

This is a substantial writing assignment and I cannot stress enough that you do not procrastinate in reviewing the sample business plan provided and begin working promptly on it this week.
The primary purpose of a business plan is to establish your future plans for a business. These plans should include:
Goals or milestones alongside detailed steps of how the business will reach each step.
Spells out your purpose, vision, and means.
While you will need a business plan to secure financing from a bank or investors, it can be an important blueprint for your business.
You should expect this plan to be a minimum of 12 pages for full credit. You will complete Sections I through VII (1 through 7) on the Business plan – financials are not required.
The criteria for this assignment is simple:
You will use the included template for your assignment. You do not have creative license to alter the document.
This means you must answer all subsections – you will replace the [Add text here] and not erase any subjections/titles.
You must use Times New Roman, 12 pt font. Text should be double-spaced that you type.
Select any funeral related business!
Consider the following questions:
What is the need for your product or services?
What is your competition and how will you differentiate yourself in the marketplace?
How will you make money, for example, in terms of sales versus expenses?
How will you market your business?
How will you get started? What are your capital requirements?
My advice:
Read over the template I have provided after reviewing the above questions.
Fill in your what you can – you’re basically brainstorming to start the process.
Every other day spend 10-15 minutes looking at what you’ve written and fill out a little more, research something and type in your findings.
If you stay dedicated to this, you’ll easily fill 10-12 pages with data.
